USB Express Over Fiber Optic Extension Solutions
USB over fiber optic extension systems extend the operating distance of an USB link to a few hundred meters and provide optical isolation from the host computer. The unique feature of this USB extension is the use of PCI Express over fiber optic technology. The computer’s PCI Express bus is extended over a fiber optic cable and a standard USB 3.0 host controller is used in the remote unit. No other solution exists on the market that is fully compliant with the USB 3.0 specification, supports Super-Speed (5.0 Gb/s), Hi-Speed (480 Mbps), Full-Speed (12 Mbps) and Low-Speed (1.5 Mbps) on each port and provides electrical isolation. The remote unit with the appropriate transceiver can operate in the industrial temperature range from -40° to +85° C.
